What is ETC Bucks for Books?
ETC Bucks for Books is a fund-raising campaign to help the Engeye Scholars School Support Program. The goal is to purchase basic textbooks, school supplies and make classrooms repairs for schools in rural Uganda. The program was inspired by 16 year old Sara Weinman’s recent visit to Ddegeya village. Sara was able to witness firsthand the desperate need at the local schools near the Engeye Health Clinic. The teachers at these schools are trying to educate their students without textbooks and the most basic school supplies. We believe that Education provides promise and hope for the children and the families of the village. To provide this hope and promise, Engeye Teen Connection Board Members Sara Weinman, Brian Hickey and Greg Hickey have launched a fundraising effort to help the students at these rural schools.

How will the Books be Purchased and Delivered to the School?
Over 700 books have already been personally delivered by ETC board member, 17 year old Brian Hickey during his travels to Uganda in the summer of 2010. Pictures of the delivery of the books and supplies can be found at http://engeyescholars.jalbum.net. Arrangements have been made to deliver additional books and supplies and continue to work to improve the classrooms at the school. ETC Board Member Greg Hickey also plans on visiting in the summer of 2012 to further these goals.
